What fails, especially near the water
A pool is a permanent electrical installation next to people in the water. Bonding ties the metal together so a fault does not put voltage in the water. Grounding gives fault current a path that opens the breaker. GFCI protection is there because a breaker alone is not the whole answer at a pool. Salt systems, heaters, and underwater lights all sit in weather that corrodes lugs, niches, and bonding clamps.
On the barrier island, from Ormond Beach through Daytona Beach to New Smyrna Beach and down toward Edgewater, salt air shortens the life of outdoor equipment. A bonding wire that was solid in year one can be a green stub five years later. Inland, in Deltona or DeLand, the enemy is age and added equipment more than surf spray, but a pool is still a wet location. Palm Coast has a large stock of pooled houses on canal and pine lots. The same rules apply. The corrosion is slower than a house on A1A and faster than a house in a dry state.

What changes the price
There is no Odin price list for a pool electrical package. The number moves with the distance from the main panel to the equipment, whether the main panel has space and capacity, the light, whether the heater is electric, and how much of the deck is already poured. An electric heater is a large load. It can be the thing that forces a service upgrade . A gas heater is a smaller electrical load and a different trade’s pipe.
If the deck is already down and the bond was never installed, the repair is not a swap of a light bulb. We will say that before anyone cuts concrete.
Permits: pool electrical is inspected. The building department is the city’s, or the county’s if the lot is unincorporated. Palm Coast runs its own building department. Do not pull a homeowner permit and ask us to work under it. Florida’s licensing rules exist so the license holder is the one on the permit.
